The Ascent of Fire: 523 Steps to Toaca Peak and Accommodation at Dochia

We invite you to accept a scenic challenge in the Ceahlău Massif! Our route starts from the Izvorul Muntelui Cabin and quickly leads us to the mountain plateau.

In the evening, we will climb the spectacular staircase with 523 steps toward Toaca Peak (1904 m), the place where the sunset colors Izvorul Muntelui Lake and offers a unique panorama.

The Story of Our Trail

• Direct Route: We will use the classic route, marked with the Blue Band, which quickly brings us to the high area of the massif.

• Unforgettable Views: Once on Toaca Peak, we will enjoy a 360° view, including Izvorul Muntelui Lake.

• Accessible Challenge: An ideal trip for enthusiasts with basic physical training who want a demanding ascent (over 1000m D+), but without major technical elements.

Trail Information

Day I: Saturday, May 30 – Ascent to Dochia & Sunset on Toaca

• Elevation gain: Ascent (+) 1070 m

• Evening activity: Ascent to Toaca Peak (1904 m) and descent (Total additional time: ~1.5 hours).

• Length: ∼6 km

• Approximate duration: About 3h 30m – 4h

• Trail type: Red Dot (New trail, very well marked)

Day II: Sunday, May 31 – Sunrise and Scenic Descent

• Elevation gain: Descent (-) 1020 m

• Length: ∼6 km

• Approximate duration: About 2h 30m

• Experience: Sunrise at Dochia, spectacular panoramas on the descent.

Terrain Configuration and Difficulty

• Terrain: Mostly easy-to-follow path, but may have some rugged/rocky sections, with a predominantly slight incline (20°).

• Exposure: Non-existent – Safe trail, no technical passages.

Required Equipment

• Mountain boots (Mandatory, with a high-grip sole).

• 3-layer clothing, including a thick, windproof jacket (at 1750 m, it is cold in the evening and morning).

• Headlamp (mandatory for sunset/sunrise on Toaca).

• Personal sleeping gear.

• Cancellation more than 7 days before: Full refund of the amount paid (minus any bank fees) or the possibility to transfer the payment to a future trip.

• Cancellation less than 7 days before: For organizational reasons, a refund is not possible. However, we offer you the flexibility to join another future trip.

• Weather conditions: In case of unfavorable weather, we reserve the right to cancel the hike, and the money will be refunded.
