About the hike

Trip Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026.

It's the perfect time to enjoy the last snow at high altitudes and the first flowers in the valleys! We invite you to explore a unique route that starts from Rusești Hamlet (near Tarnița) and takes us through a varied and fresh landscape.

The Story of Our Trail Complex Circuit: The route is divided into two complementary sections:

  • Part I - Fairytale Gorge (Relaxation): We begin the circuit with a gentle walk along the Someșul Cald River. We will cross wooden bridges, admire mini-waterfalls, and walk on rusty leaves or snow! This portion offers total relaxation and, if we’re lucky, we’ll be greeted by snowdrops and crocuses starting to emerge from under the snow. We reach Poiana Dâlboaca (Old Mill) and the first viewpoint, Dâlboaca.

  • Part II - The Ridge (Panorama): We continue with a steady climb (concentrated elevation gain) toward the Dealu Pietrelor ridge. From here, we will visit six viewpoints, including the spectacular Colții Șoimului (Falcon’s Cliffs). The wide panorama over the gorge, Rusești hamlet, and the Apuseni Mountains on the horizon is truly impressive! The final descent follows a wide road back to Rusești.

Why this trail in March?

  • It is a new route in the Gilău Mountains, offering a fresh destination.
