Winter in the Ciucaș Mountains with Cabin Accommodation

Dates: Saturday, March 14 – Sunday, March 15, 2026 (A complete weekend on the mountain)

We invite you to discover the magic of winter in the Ciucaș Mountains, one of the most spectacular massifs of the Eastern Carpathians. Over these two days, we will traverse snowy ridges and explore the iconic landmarks of the area in a fairytale winter landscape.

The Story of Our Trail We travel Saturday morning toward the Ciucaș Mountains. These two days will offer a complete winter mountain hiking experience, not by following fixed daily routes, but by exploring the most spectacular areas of the massif depending on the weather. Throughout the two days, we will reach the Ciucaș Peak, traverse the impressive Zăganu Ridge, climb Gropșoarele Peak, spend the night at the Ciucaș Cabin, and explore Muntele Roșu, Tigăile Mari, and the Bratocea Ridge – all dressed in the white mantle of winter.

Trail Information

• Itinerary: Circuit in the Ciucaș Mountains – exploration of Ciucaș Peak, Zăganu Ridge, Gropșoarele Peak, Ciucaș Cabin, Muntele Roșu, Tigăile Mari, Bratocea Ridge.

• Elevation gain: Approximately 700m elevation difference per day.

• Approximate duration: 5 – 6 hours each day.

• Difficulty: Moderate.

• Accommodation: Ciucaș Peak Cabin (Cabana Vârful Ciucaș).

  
  

Required Equipment

• Winter mountain boots (3-season boots are also okay, with wool socks).

• 25 - 30 liter backpack.

• 3-layer clothing, including a waterproof jacket.

• Down jacket.

• Cabin clothes.

• Ski / sun goggles.

• Sunscreen.

• 1.5 - 2 liters of water and food (lunch snack for each day).

• Trekking poles (mandatory if we use snowshoes).

• Hat, gloves (2 pairs), buff.

• Depending on the snow, we may advance using snowshoes, which we will provide.

  
  

Practical Details Hike cost: 350 RON/person

The price includes:

• Mountain hiking guide / Certified International Mountain Leader.

• Full assistance throughout the entire trip.

• Collective equipment + good energy and the best we have to offer that day! :) Transport: We will organize based on the number of people (minibus and personal cars). Not included: Accommodation at the Ciucaș Cabin (rooms for 2 or 4 people).

Cancellation Policy

• Cancellation more than 7 days before: Full refund or transfer to a future trip.

• Cancellation less than 7 days before: For organizational reasons, a refund is not possible, but we offer you the flexibility to join another future trip.

• Weather conditions: We reserve the right to cancel the hike in dangerous weather conditions (ice, blizzard, red alert), and the money will be fully refunded.
