The Story of the Route
This tour in early September is about contrasts and balance.
We start strong and climb the roof of Romania, Moldoveanu Peak (2544 m), on a Friday, to avoid the classic weekend crowds and to enjoy the majesty of the Făgăraș Mountains in peace.
After a day full of adrenaline and spectacular alpine landscapes, Saturday will bring us a completely different rhythm. It will be the perfect opportunity for a shorter route, an excellent combination of a leisurely tour and a special cultural experience, in which we will explore the legends, nature and traditions of the Nucșoara area.

Additional information
Itinerary
Thursday evening (September 3)
We all gather in the village of Sboghițești (whether we come from Cluj, Bucharest or other cities) and stay at Casa Hiru – which we have fully booked. We rest and prepare for the day ahead.
Friday (September 4)
We wake up early and head towards the highest peak in Romania. Our route starts from Stâna lui Burnei and takes us up to Moldoveanu Peak (2544 m). On the way back, we descend via Galbena Peak and Lake. It will be a long, intense day, with gorgeous alpine landscapes – exactly the kind of day after which you feel like you’ve done something memorable.
And in the evening, after all the fatigue accumulated on the mountain, we relax around a well-deserved campfire , right next to the lake in our backyard.
Saturday (September 5)
After Friday's effort, we have a cultural and relaxing day on the Via Valahia route. We visit Lake Învărtita, climb the Strungii Peak, discuss the partisans of Fagaras and see the house of Elizabeta Rizea, walk among the Secular Beech Trees and through a fern forest. In addition, we plan to visit local craftsmen in the area and the rock-hewn monastery, Corbii de Piatră .
On Saturday evening everyone heads back home.
