The Story of the Route
If the mountains of Romania had a "best of", Parângul Mare would definitely be on the cover
We are going on a serious and very beautiful hike to one of the giants of the Carpathians — Parângul Mare Peak (2519 m). A long and spectacular day awaits us through the alpine zone, with panoramas as far as the eye can see.
On the way back, we also pass by our cousin Parângul Mic, but also twice by Cârja Peak... that is if we successfully pass the black goat mafia that controls the area.
We'll have about 18 km and about 1100 m of elevation gain. That is, exactly the kind of ride you feel on Tuesday morning... but with gratitude and joy.
Local legend says that in Parâng the weather changes faster than people's opinions on the internet and that the wind is generally blowing. We are prepared for anything: sun, cold, peace and maximum joy on the summit.

Weather conditions: We reserve the right to cancel the hike in dangerous weather conditions (ice, blizzard, code red), and the money will be fully refunded.

Itinerary
We leave Cluj on Friday evening, so that we can get straight on the trail on Saturday morning. We will do a round trip hike starting from the Parâng resort, towards one of the serious classics of the Carpathians: Parângul Mare (2519 m).
The climb: By the time we reach Cârja Peak, we will probably have already eaten two chocolates and will start to question our life choices. From there, however, we hold the ridge for almost two hours to our final destination: Parângul Mare.
If you ask us if it's hard, we'll honestly tell you that it's a demanding hike. But if you have patience, determination, and a real mountain spirit, you can tick off one of the great peaks of the Carpathians.

We will have approximately 18 km and almost 1100 m of elevation gain, so we sincerely promise you that we are not coming here just for the fresh air.
The return: We descend on the same spectacular universe of ridges and alpine lakes. There are some very beautiful refuges in the Carpathians. Well… that’s not the case here. The Parâng Refuge is more like a white and very useful container. But the surrounding landscape compensates for it about 100 times.
Required Equipment
Hiking boots or shoes with grippy soles are mandatory
Clothing adapted for changeable weather: technical T-shirt, fleece and waterproof/windstopper jacket.
Water (minimum 2L) and snacks for the whole day Trekking poles - they are very useful for this type of hiking
Cap/hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
