The Story of the Route
We invite you to the small panoramic terrace of the Gilău Mountains at Colții Şoimului
We're going on Sunday, June 7th, on a surprisingly beautiful circuit, just an hour from Cluj. It's not the longest tour, nor the most dramatic, but it's exactly the kind of route that reminds you of how many beautiful places we have close to home.
A perfect mix of forest, water, rock and viewpoints awaits us. We start relaxed by Someșul Cald, cross a broken bridge :) we pass by an old mill, discover a staircase that goes up into a giant fir tree where there is a small shelter.
Then we climb to the most spectacular part of the route: the Falcon's Fang ridge.
We have six viewpoints and, to be completely honest, three are very beautiful, the next two are similar and the last one is hidden and beautiful too.
Legend has it that hawks used to watch the entire valley from here. (And if he doesn't say so, we'll tell you at the office on Monday.)
In short: a tour close to Cluj, with moderate effort, lots of greenery, a few nice surprises and at the end with a cake and syrup or maybe a coffee.

Cancellation more than 7 days in advance: Full refund or transfer to a future tour.
Cancellation under 7 days: For organizational reasons, no refund is possible, but we offer you the flexibility to join another future tour.
Weather conditions: We reserve the right to cancel the hike in dangerous weather conditions (ice, blizzard, code red), and the money will be fully refunded.

Itinerary
We leave Cluj on Sunday morning and after about an hour we arrive in the hamlet of Rusești, the place where our adventure begins.
First part: We start relaxed, near Someșul Cald, crossing a surprisingly wild and peaceful area for how close it is to Cluj. We will pass by Moara Dâlboaca, discover some hidden places and enjoy that part of the route that reminds you that not all hikes have to start with suffering
The climb: After the warm-up comes the most demanding part of the day. We climb to the Colția Şoimului ridge, where we gain almost all the elevation gain of the route. No, it's not hard :) but you'll definitely sweat a little
Lookouts: No less than six lookout points await us. Some of them are very beautiful. You'll love them.
The return: We descend the path back to Rusești and maybe go for a coffee or a cake at the end before returning to Cluj.
In short: approximately 12 km, 500 m elevation gain
Required Equipment
Hiking boots or shoes with grippy soles are mandatory
Clothing adapted for changeable weather: technical T-shirt, fleece and waterproof/windstopper jacket.
Water (minimum 2L) and snacks for the whole day Trekking poles - they are very useful for this type of hiking
Cap/hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Cabin equipment i.e. sleeping clothes and toothbrush :)
