Peak Hike: Trascău Roof – Dâmbău & Părăginoasa Circuit

After many wanderings through Gilău and Muntele Mare, it's time to focus on the beauty of the Trascău Mountains. We propose a complete circuit, which will take us to the roof of the massif, offering a varied experience from the gorge to the ridge.

Departure Point (Feneșasa Valley): Access is via the Feneșasa Valley, passing through the spectacular Feneș Gorges (Caprei Gorges) , where we will admire the limestone blocks.

Complex Circuit:

1. Steep Climb: We begin the circuit at the Blue Triangle marker , with a short but steep climb through the forest – this being the most demanding portion of the day.

2. Flower Meadows: The route calms down and continues on a forest "network of roads", leading us to meadows and glades where, in mid-April, a real spectacle awaits us: carpets of cuckoo's nest and other colorful flowers.

3. Cheile Caprei Belvedere: We will make a short detour on Red Point to reach the belvedere that offers an amazing perspective on Cheile Caprei.

4. The Two Peaks: We will conquer the highest peak, Dâmbău Peak (1369 m) , from where, on clear days, the Muntele Mare and Retezat Mountains can be seen. Then, we will descend to Poiana Părăginoasa and climb the second peak of the day, Părăginoasa Peak (1292 m) .
